Hastings resident Evelyn “Eve” Catherine Evans-Boitano, 93, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at her home.

Memorial service is 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Book signing with family present will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Friday, December 28, 2018, at DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Hastings. Inurnment service is 1:00 pm, Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, Nebraska followed by burial in the Deshler City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Deshler Community foundation or Faith Lutheran Church.

Evelyn “Eve” Catherine Evans-Boitano was born March 6, 1925, in Deshler, Nebraska, the daughter of William C. and Esther Louise (Loetterle) Struve.  She graduated from Deshler High School with the class of 1943.  Eve moved to Omaha where she worked at Woodmen of the World Building and then to Denver where she worked as the Administrative Assistant at the Emily Griffith Opportunity School.  She married Paul L. Evans in 1946 in Denver, Colorado, and this union was blessed with 4 children.  Eve & Paul returned to Hastings, Nebraska in 1955, she and her husband were instrumental in helping start Southern Hills Country Club. They moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1958 and then moved to Arvada Colorado in 1961. Mom & Dad later separated.

Eve moved to San Francisco, California in 1974. She married Paul Boitano in San Francisco in 1983.  She worked as Vice President at Glendale Federal Savings & Loan from where she retired in 1994. Eve returned to Denver in 1999 to be closer to family and then back to Hastings, Nebraska in 2007.  She was always proud of her family and her grandchildren. She was an avid golfer, playing all over the United States. She had two hole in ones and some of her prized possessions were her Big Bertha driver and her Karsten Ping putter. She was a sports enthusiast, she was a San Francisco 49’ers fan and season ticket holder. She was also a season ticket holder of the San Francisco Giants. Eve was a supporter of the Arts, serving on the Symphony Guild for the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.  Eve was a member of USGA  and the California Board of Realtors.

Eve is survived by her children, Cheryl Phillips of Arvada, CO, Paul L. Evans, Nicolette “Nicky” (Victor) Ockinga all of Hastings, NE, and Kevin (Susan) Evans of Arvada, CO; Stepchildren, Todd Boitano and Barry Boitano both of San Francisco CA; twelve grandchildren, Dwayne  (Rebecca) Phillips, Richard (Debbie) Phillips, Teressa Phillips, Dustin W. Evans, Brandon T. (Janece) Evans, Jacqueline (George) Ajazi, Ryan Schroeder, Alex (Kate) Schroeder, Jeremy (Brooke) Evans, Anthony Evans, Sean Evans, and Jeff  (Madi) Evans; thirteen great-grandchildren, Nathan, Daniel, Seth, Grant, Tessa, Josh, Jessica, Noah, Alexandra, Stella, Camille, Jett, and Finn; sister, Dolores Redlick of Walnut Creek, CA; sister-in-law, Lois Pederson of Deshler, NE; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; spouse, siblings, Thelma Bucholz, and Harold Struve; son-in-law, Richard G Phillips; and granddaughter, Tara Evans.
