Margueriete Hartman was born November 16, 1922 in Pleasanton, Iowa, the daughter of Earnest and Ethel (Hullinger) Eastin. She was the fourth child of a family of six children. Her parents were farmers and she enjoyed the farm life. She was reared in a Seventh-day Adventist home. Her early education was in a country school. Margueriete attended Oak Park Academy for two years graduating from Garden Grove High School. She attended Union College with two of her sisters. Margueriete worked as a secretary before she married Glen Hartman on August 15, 1948 and became a homemaker and mother. Their home was blessed with a son and daughter that were her pride and joy. Being a member of a small church Margueriete held many church offices. She was leader of the children's Sabbath School Division for many years and also assisted with youth ministries. Margueriete loved children and enjoyed working with them. She and Glen farmed together with his parents until after their passing, his father in 1967 from a farming accident and his mother in 1977. Every summer they planted a large garden where she preserved hundreds of quarts of garden produce. With many family members already in Lincoln it seemed the logical place to retire. They moved to Lincoln in 1978 and became members of the College View Seventh-day Adventist Church where she served as a church deaconess for nearly 25 years, was involved with Women of Spirit and was a church greeter for a number of years. She loved spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow. Margueriete is survived by her husband of 65 years, Glen; son, Glendal Hartman and his wife Sandy of Lincoln; daughter Joyce Jesse and her husband Jamie of Lincoln; three grandchildren, Melissa Huenergardt and her husband Sam, Carissa Hartman, and Christopher Jesse; two great grandchildren Christian and Chloe Huenergardt; brother, Farrell Eastin and his wife LaVerna of Lincoln; sister, Freda Gilliland and her husband Melvin of Burlington, Washington; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Oscar Eastin; two sisters, Goldie Heifner and Violet Lewis. Margueriete's faith in Jesus was strong and she witnessed to many about His answered prayers in her behalf. Her greatest desire is to be reunited with her family and friends in heaven where together they can enjoy their heavenly home.
