Robert Myers

Robert “Bob” D. Myers, 81, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Hastings, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at his home with family at bedside.
Born March 10, 1944, to Lyle and Esther (Wenske) Myers, Bob was a long-time resident of Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1962. On January 28, 1967, he married Verla M. Haines, and they remained in Hastings to raise their family. He was the proud owner and operator of Myers Refrigeration and enjoyed his customers and the work he did. Bob also served his country as a part of the National Guard and Air National Guard and was a lifelong member of the F.O.E. #592.
Bob will be remembered for his tough love and jokes. He enjoyed sharing a drink and good conversation with anyone who stopped by and had an answer for everything. Bob had a passion for old-time country music, often filling his home with familiar tunes, and he was always ready for a good game of 10-point pitch with family and friends. He was also known for having quite the sweet tooth.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, his four girls, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and he was surely greeted into eternal life by his grandson, Kane, with an ice-cold beer ready.
Private family services will be held, with inurnment at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings on Saturday, September 27, 2025. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting his family with arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to his family for a later designation.
