Shirley M Jacobitz

Hastings resident Shirley M. Jacobitz, 81, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, NE.

Memorial Services will be 11:30 am, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Marcus Mackay officiating. Burial will be at Edgar Cemetery in Edgar, Nebraska. In honoring her wish to be cremated there is no viewing or visitation. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church building fund. Shirley was born October 15, 1936 in Davenport, Nebraska the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Comstock) Striggow. She graduated from Nelson High School with the class of 1954. Shirley married Elmer Jacobitz on July 28, 1957, they later divorced in 1982. She was a housewife and a motel desk clerk. Shirley was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, canning and baking. Her great sense of humor will be missed by many.

Shirley is survived by her son, Rodney Jacobitz and spouse Alice of Minden, NE; daughter, Kathy LeBeau and spouse Dick of Hastings, NE; five grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Colgrove of Superior, NE; two brothers, Allen Striggow and spouse Mary of Olympia, WA and Larry Striggow and spouse Judy of Superior, NE; brother-in-law, Eugene Schott of Rossville, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, June Andelt, Mona Hansen, and Jeannie Schott; brother, Charles Striggow; and grandson, Michael LeBeau.
