Loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and former resident of Billings, Montana, and Santa Clara, Utah, Betty Ann Evans (Overcash), 93, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Heritage at Sagewood in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Betty was born on June 27, 1929, in Shelby, Montana to Anna (Egan) and Victor Overcash. She grew up in Cut Bank, Montana, and graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1947. Betty attended both Montana State College in Bozeman, Montana and Montana State University in Missoula, Montana where she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Evans. They were married in Cut Bank on August 25, 1951, and remained married for 66 years until Bill died in September 2017. They lived in areas throughout Montana where they had their four daughters, and in South Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico, Virginia, North Carolina and finally Utah before moving to Hastings, Nebraska 8 years ago to live near their daughter Terry and her husband David.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Victor Overcash; her husband Bill; her brother-in-law, Robert Hall; and her grandson, Jasper Griffith.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Griffith of Helena, MT; Jo Katkus of Palmer, AK; Terry (David) Lovekin of Hastings, NE; and Susan Evans of Idaho Falls, ID; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Hall of Kalispell, MT along with her niece and nephew, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for both Bill and Betty will be held at a later date. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Hastings, Nebraska, is handling arrangements. Memorials for Betty may be directed to her family for a future designation.
