Hastings resident Charles R. Baker, 91, died Thursday, September 8, 2011, at Hastings Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Charles was born July 8, 1920 in Loup City, Nebraska, the son of Harry and Luella (McDonald) Baker. He grew up in Hastings and graduate from Hastings High School with the class of 1937. In 1941, he married Winifred E. Booker. He owned and operated Charles Baker Builders. Charles enjoyed building and woodworking and built homes for all of his children.
He is survived by his three children, Rickard and wife Gloria of Omaha, Nebr., Jennifer Priebe and husband Bob of Plattsmouth, Nebr., and Larry and wife Lucinda of Stillwater, Okla.; six grand children; one great grand child; two sisters, Edna Way and June Woodard both of Arizona; and special neighbors, Betty Weston and Jimmy Golick.
He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.

Mr. Baker's wishes were to be cremated and for private inurnment.
