Douglas Dale Conklin of Juniata, Nebraska passed away on September 18, 2023. Doug was born on February 22, 1947, in Woodworth, North Dakota to Shugart and Agnus (Janke) Conklin. He was the oldest of four boys.
Doug moved to Adams County in 1964 and started working for the Adams County Department of Roads in 1966 where he later became the shop Foreman for 20 years. Throughout his career he operated all types of heavy equipment, built bridges, roads, and plowed snow.
Doug was a jack of all trades. He built several homes in the area and could fabricate anything anyone needed, whether it was made from wood, metal, or leather. With just an 8th grade education, he managed to figure out how to do just about anything. He was a man who believed that things needed to be done a certain way for them to be done right. Many maps were drawn over the years to show his family exactly how things needed to be done.
Doug was blessed with two daughters and multiple stepchildren. He enjoyed spending time with all his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He also loved camping, BBQ’s, antique tractors, hunting, and fishing. He liked taking trips to new places and always enjoyed revisiting places of his past.
He was survived by his daughter, Penny Earl and her husband Jeff; Grandson, Nathan Earl and his wife Stephanie; Granddaughter, Elizabeth Whitehead and her husband Billy; Great Grandchildren, Chloe, Landon and Mykell; Two brothers, Grant Conklin and Jerome Conklin.
Services will be held at the Juniata United Methodist Church, 610 N Adams Ave, Juniata, NE at 11:00 am on Friday, September 29, 2023. Pastor Kathy Uldrich will officiate.
