E. L. 'Roy' Peister

Hastings resident E. L. ‘Roy’ Peister, 92, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, at Mary Lanning HealthCare.

Private family service to be held at a later date at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to his family for a later designation.

Roy was born January 30, 1931, in Josselyn, Nebraska to Jacob and Emma (Reichert) Peister. At the age of 5, his family moved to Denver, Colorado. On December 2, 1950, in Denver he married Rose Marie Hill, from Hastings, Nebraska. Roy served in the Colorado Air National Guard and the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Much of his adult life was spent in Sales and his own business until going full time into the ministry in late 1975 and serving his church for 17 years when the Lord sent him on the road in a traveling ministry for 12 ½ years prior to settling in Hastings with his wife. While in Hastings he served as Chaplain at Mary Lanning Hospital.

Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Rose; parents; infant daughters Sandra and Debra; and brother, Alfred Peister.

He is survived by his children, Stephen (Shelley) Peister of Aurora, CO, Diana (Mark) Reiner of Hastings, NE, and Vicki (Bruce) McVicker of York, NE; grandchildren, Heidi (Alex) Reiner Yacoub, Eric (Laura) Reiner, Amy (Jake) Morse, and Ian McVicker; great-grandchildren, Noah McVicker, Zaida Morse, Zara Reiner Yacoub, Leila Reiner Yacoub, Benjamin Reiner, and Ruth Reiner.
