Hastings resident Franklin "Frank" Elias Hoover, 78, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at his home.Frank was born February 15, 1933, near Hazard, Nebraska, one of nine children to the late Seth and Grace (UpChurch) Hoover. As a young man he boxed with the Golden Gloves, and then went to serve his country with the Merchant Marines on February 7, 1951. Frank was a Horticulturist and owned Hoovers Green Leaf Arbor Service. He enjoyed gardening, drawing, painting, and wrote poetry. Frank was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren fishing. He was proud of his Indian heritage as a descendent of the Miami Tribe. Frank was a lifelong member of the LDS church, and the National Arborist Association.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of Hastings; daughter, Tammy Rocco and husband Anthony of Hastings; son David Hoover of Hastings; six grandchildren, Lexie Burge and fiancé Kyler Atz of Hastings, Devani Hultman of Grand Island, Seth Burge, Dacia Hultman, Hailey Burge, and Noelle Melvin all of Hastings; two great grandchildren, Cameron and NaKoa.
Visitation Schedule
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Service
Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Church of Latter Day Saints in Hastings with Bishop Bryan Woodbury officiating.
Cemetery
Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings
