Hazel Ransom Obituary

Hastings resident Hazel E. Ransom, 95, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Hastings Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.

Hazel was born July 12, 1915 in Salem, Neb., the daughter of Melvin and Dora (Speers) Martin. She grew up and attended school in Hastings. Hazel married Howard Ransom on February 9, 1933 in Hastings. Howard passed away in 1987. She worked for the Naval Ammunitions Depot and then at the Hastings Regional Center, where she retired from.

Hazel enjoyed being outside watching nature and loved working in her garden. She and Howard had a cabin at Jeffrey lake where they spent many weekends.

Hazel is survived by her four children, Howard Ransom and wife Karen of Hastings, Norma Vineyard and husband Francis of Hastings, Marge Adams of Lincoln, Neb., Marian Tritch and husband Albert of Lincoln, Neb.; 13 grand children; 28 great grand children; and 3 great great grand children; sister, Bonnie Pavelka and husband Frank of Hastings; brother Melvin Martin of Hastings; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Don Adams; two sisters, Virginia Fitch and Beulah Thaut; and brother, Michael.

Visitation Schedule
It was Hazel's wish was to be cremated, so there will be no viewing. Family will be present for visitation 1 hour before the service.

Service
Memorial Services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011, at the All Saints Chapel at Hastings Good Samaritan Village with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating.

Cemetery
Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings.
