Judith A. Melvin

Former Hastings resident Judith A. Melvin, 78, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, Nebraska.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am, Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Church of Christ in Hastings with Minister Russ Dudrey officiating. Viewing and visitation will begin 2 hours prior to the service at the church. Burial of both William and Judith Melvin will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Edgar Cemetery in Edgar, Nebraska. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to her family for a later designation.

Judith Anne Melvin was born March 6, 1941, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Oliver and Elsie (Schoenrock) Maxon. She graduated from Ong High School with the class of 1958. Judith married William J. Melvin on September 13, 1959, in Ong, Nebraska. In addition to her most significant role as a mother and grandmother, Judith worked at Johnson Cashway, Industrial Chemical Lab, and Adams County. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Hastings, Nebraska. Judith enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, bird watching, and attending her grandkids activities.

Judith is survived by her children, Rhonda Hoselton and her husband William, Tony Melvin all of Hastings, and Julie Bruning and her husband Dennis of Edgar, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren, Jacob, Kristy, Daniel, Michelle, Tiffany, Brendan, Nathaniel, Noelle, Alexandrea, Dallas, Erin; eighteen great-grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Isaac, Isabelle, Makayla, Emily, D'Arjha, Bianca, Jazmin, Rose, Kaeli, Dorian, Ahna, Emmalina, Lilly, Liam, Maximus, and Weston; sister, Mary (Jerry) Munsell of Kearney, NE; brothers, James (Bev) Maxon of Kearney, NE, and David (Winona) Maxon of Lincoln, NE; sister-in-law, Joan Maxon of Grand Island, NE; brother-in-law, Leland (Viola) Melvin of Hastings, NE; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; great-granddaughter, Madeline; and brothers, Donald (Bev) Maxon, and Thomas Maxon.
