Hastings resident, Muriel M. (Meyer) Luke, 100 years old, died Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Perkins
Pavilion, Hastings, NE.
A memorial service will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 12, 2023, Church of Christ in Hastings, Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Muriel was born on March 25, 1923, to Carl J. Meyer and Helen W. (Brown) Meyer in Pasadena, CA. She
graduated from San Fernando High School and attended UCLA. She married Harold Marion Luke on July
12, 1942 in Pacoima, CA, and they later moved to Durango, CO in 1947 and Hastings, NE in 1962. Muriel
and Harold raised 6 children, she was also active in her local church of Christ congregation, and she held
various retail and food service positions in schools in the Hastings area, retiring from Zion Lutheran
School as the Food Service Manager. She had a love for Jesus as her Lord and Savior, for music, and a
servant’s heart that touched the lives of many who knew her.
Muriel is survived by her children: Susan (Robert) Grissom of Hastings, James of Portland, OR, Charles of
Yuma, AZ, David of Lubbock, TX, William (Jacki) of Kearney, NE, Richard of Longmont, CO; 17
grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband
Harold, two sisters and a brother, and three daughters-in-law; Jannie (James), Ann (Charles), and Betty
