Robert R. Gerard

Hastings resident Robert R. Gerard, 59, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023, at CHI Health Lakeside in Omaha, Nebraska.

Funeral service will be 10:30am, Saturday, October 28, 2023, at All Saints Chapel at Good Samaritan Society in Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Kathy Uldrich officiating. The burial will be at Parkview Cemetery with Military Honors by the Hastings Honor Guard. Family request casual clothing, Nebraska gear or Hawaiian shirts be worn to the service. DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation.

Robert was born January 20, 1964, in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of Richard and Roesetha (Ellis) Gerard. He graduated from Hastings High School with the class of 1982 and served in the U.S. Army. Robert married Tammy L. Reams in Hastings, Nebraska on August 8, 1987. He worked for JBS Swift for 26 years and WR Reserve for 7 years. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching the University of Nebraska Football.

Robert is survived by his wife, Tammy Gerard of Hastings, NE; children, Jessica Gerard of Hastings, NE and Christopher (McKenna) Gerard of Grand Island, NE; grandson, Nash; mother, Roesetha Adcock of Hastings, NE; sister, Sandra Jensen of Hastings, NE; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and those that considered him a surrogate father. He is also survived by his dog, Rickon and cats, Candy and Dave.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Ed & Anna Gerard, and Virgil & Bertha Ellis.
