William Halsey Obituary

Hastings resident William ‘Bill' J. Halsey Jr., 58, died Friday, June 17, 2011 at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion in Hastings
Bill was born February 27, 1953 in Hastings, the son of William Sr. and Margaret (Schuller) Halsey. He grew up and attended school in Hastings before going to Central Community College and becoming certified in cabinet making. Bill married Charlotte Phelps on December 12, 1971 in Hastings; they raised three daughters before separating. He worked as the supervising custodian for the Hastings Junior High School. Bill was a member of North Shore Assembly of God Church and Full Gospel. He enjoyed Golden Glove Boxing when he was younger and later he took classes at South Central Taekwondo where be became a Black Belt. Bill's last battle was caner which he fought bravely for three years.

Bill is survived by three daughters, Traci Cook and husband Joel of Grand Island, Melissa Henrie and husband Brad, and Cindy Peak and husband Mike all of Juniata; five grandchildren, Darius Cook, Jerome Halsey, Emma Adler, Evan Adler, and Jordan Peak; his father, William J. Halsey Sr.; two sisters, Pam Dunn of Hastings and Yvonne Pierce of Lincoln; brother, Steve Halsey of Hastings, several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother; granddaughter, Teya; brother, Michael; a niece and a nephew.

Visitation Schedule
To honor Bill's wishes for cremation there is no viewing.

Service
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at North Shore Assembly of God with Pastor Tony Anderson officiating.
